MSW RSW
Hey there! I’m Julie (She/Her), Registered Social Worker and Expressive Arts Therapist. I have been practicing in the field of Social Work for over 13 years here in Calgary.
The therapy space I hold is for children (5+), adolescents, and young adults (up to 25); with the opportunity for some caregiver and family involvement. I am passionate about working with this population as there are great benefits to early intervention. If we can support our young in developing emotional intelligence skills, and healing from past hurts and traumas, they will be better equipped as they grow and develop into adulthood and have families of their own.
I am trained in expressive arts therapy and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). I practice from a person centered, strengths-based, and body focused approach. Where therapy is centered on your identified needs and goals, drawing from the unique skills and resources you already possess, and through connecting to your inner knowing. The work I do is deeply rooted in attachment based and trauma informed perspectives.
By recognizing we exist within complex relationships, as well as larger cultural and structural systems, I hope to gain insight and understanding into your world and journey that has brought you to therapy. Through therapy, I support Clients to increase their self-awareness, better regulate emotions, develop problem solving, decision-making and coping skills, improve relationships with themselves and others, navigate life transitions, and find healing, connection and meaning.
If you would like to find out more about how I can support you, or your child, please visit my website or contact me to set up a free phone consultation. I am open to discussing your questions about benefits coverage and sliding scale fees. Looking forward to connecting with you soon. -Julie
